MLA 8th Edition: Organization or Corporation Author

An entry that appears at the end of your paper that starts on its own separate page.


Format:

All works cited should be double spaced, have a hanging indent and be listed in alphabetical order.  Place the name of the organization/corporation where the author's name should be.  If the publisher is the author, then skip the author entry.  The elements to include are as follows:

If organization/corporation:

Organization/Corporation's Name. Book Title: Subtitle. Publisher, Publication Date.

 

If the publisher is the author:

Book Title: Subtitle. Publisher, Publication Date.


Examples:

If organization/corporation:

The Mayo Clinic Staff. Water Does Not Flow up a Mountain: It Only Flows Downhill. Random House Books, 2021.

 

If the publisher is the author:

Water Does Not Flow up a Mountain: It Only Flows Downhill. Random House Books, 2021.

In-Text Citation

In-Text Citation

Using in-text citation is necessary to help avoid instances of plagiarism.  It is an entry that appears in the body of your paper that includes the organization or corporation's name and page number (or a shortened version of the title and page number if the author is the publisher) when you express information or ideas taken from a source through a quote or by using your own words. 

Examples:

If organization/corporation:

(The Mayo Clinic Staff 10).

The Mayo Clinic Staff stated that "Insert quoted text here" (10).

 

If publisher:

(Water Does Not 10).

Water Does Not stated that "Insert quoted text here" (10).
