How to format a paper using APA 6th edition.

Format:

All references should be double spaced, have a hanging indent and be listed in alphabetical order.  For eight or more authors list the names of the first six followed by an ellipses [...] and then list the name of the last author.  The elements to include are as follows:

First Author Last Name, First Initial. Second Initial., Second Author Last Name, First Initial. Second Initial., Third Author Last Name, First Initial. Second Initial., Fourth Author Last Name, First Initial. Second Initial., Fifth Author Last Name, First Initial. Second Initial., Sixth Author Last Name, First Initial. Second Initial., ... & Last Author Last Name, First Initial. Second Initial. (Year). Article title: Subtitle. Journal Title, Volume(Issue). DOI or Retrieved from full URL including http(s)

Paraphrase:

An entry that appears in the body of your paper that includes the last name of the authors and the year of publication when you express information or ideas taken from a source using your own words.  

Examples:

If eight or more authors

Watts et al. (2019) state

(Watts et al., 2019)


Quotation:

An entry that appears in the body of your paper after a direct quote that includes the last name of the authors, the year of publication and page or paragraph number(s).

Examples:

If eight or more authors with page numbers

(Watts et al., 2019, p. 16).

(Watts et al., 2019, pp. 16-17).

If eight or more authors without page numbers (paragraph numbers)

(Watts et al., 2019, para. 16).

(Watts et al., 2019, para. 16-17).
