MLA format is a writing style that is used mostly by disciplines classified as language arts, cultural arts, and other humanities.  Using MLA format allows writers to gain credibility for their work by displaying accountability to their source materials.   MLA format provides a system for referencing sources utilizing parenthetical citation and “Works Cited” pages.

MLA 8th Edition

MLA 8th edition format refers to a set of rules and guidelines found in the eighth edition of the MLA Handbookwhich is an older version of MLA format that was released in 2016, but still used by many professors.  The rules determine how you format your paper, cite references, punctuation, and so on.
